Twitter can do allot for you as a person or your company, you can be able to review your product and see who is talking about you or the product by using a simple search , or you can network with people of similar interests by engaging, entertaining and educating them about your interest, this can have tremendous results on your brand as a person and business and best of all if you are like me, meet new friends – a shout out goes to my twitter friends
My dummy’s guide to Twitter
- Have your objectives ready when you are opening a twitter account, for fun? for business? for entertainment.. etc
- Use the 3E rule, Engage, Entertain and Enlighten, people are on social media for that reason and hence work with it.
- Do not sale on twitter, this is now a good place to make a sales pitch, imagine you are sitted in a cell group meeting and you start selling life insurance, this is all about relationships first. Marketing in this time and age is about having conversations
- Have a clean personal profile, use twitter to build a brand, have a picture of you, do not leave the default twitter Image, people want to relate to you – suggested that you do not use a logo
- Know who to follow, don’t necessarilly follow celebrities, sorry but they are not usually that brainy, follow people who are in an industry you are intrested in… unless you want to become a celebrity
- Never ever outsource to a PR company, if you are a company, get someone to post tweets or do it yourself, twitter has to be you, people need to connect, it’s your online voice.
- Don’t waste time, like facebook log in to twitter sparsely and make sure that your contributions are worthwhile, I need to remind myself this often.
- Before you use keywords to promote or make your tweets more available, use hash tags, so that you can be found more easily. #samgichuru
