greenstatus

"My status update is green"... mmm comments?

Notice how some people make a blog post and they attract 50 comments, others update their Facebook status and they attract 25 comments, yet others  attract 0 comments with similar powerful messages.

The rules of online attraction work the same way with the rules of “street” attraction, and as usual Cinderella and prince charming win over the evil witch and ugly sisters (am sure I got those stories mixed up, moving on swiftly) I have noted that the following rules apply to my few friends and produce tremendous results in keeping in-touch with people on social media.

  1. Positive Vibes
Always post some inspiring message, social network just like any other social setting is not the place to mop about your problems, post messages that inspire, enrich or make people laugh, avoid vulgar, insults or depressing news… unless you are a media house, and you will eventually capture your audience.
  2. Know your Audience
If you know your friends/clients then you know what kind of post keeps them enriched or entertained as they work and hustle, example: post a joke about men and allot of women are amused by it and respond positively, but if you post a joke about women you might get chewed… know your audience.
  3. Give and take law
Always comment on other peoples post if you want them to comment on yours, re-tweet their messages if they inspire you, rule of the thumb always leave a comment on a blog, this is a powerful way of creating your own personal online brand reputation, blogs are great since they give you a link back to your own blog or website
  4. Blog/Facebook/Twitter Combo
This is an amazing combo, you write on your blog and it automatically updates your Facebook and twitter accounts, hence forming a 3 way combo, you will have reached multiple people and the right audience will respond yet you will have done it with the click of a single button.
  5. We are individuals
If someone leaves a comment on your Facebook post or the blog, make sure you respond to all comments and re-tweet powerful messages, treat everybody as an individual online  and appreciate their friendship even if you don’t know them personally, ensure you remain relevant by responding to people
  6. Photo Vs Words
I know I said 5 Rules.. :) , am not much for rules…So Photos… Photos are powerful but only if used in moderation, if you post a photo on Facebook everyday, people will hide you, learn how to use photos in moderation, people want to view and read,  but don’t want to feel spammed, make your photos relevant and interesting to the subject at hand.

Blogging , Facebook and twittering are some of the most powerful business/personal tools you can employ to share information, be an authority in your area of expertise, business or hobby and at the same time build a border-less community.

Don’t forget every post, tweet, blog comment you leave is part of your personal brand , make it consistent and powerful enough to help you achieve your ultimate goals, Let me know if this tips work for your business and personal brand.
